 Soccer & Soar with SOUL DC 

Earlier in the month, we partnered with SOUL DC (Student Athletes Organized to Understand Leadership) at HD Woodson High School as part of their Summer Sports Exploration Camp. With participants ranging from ages 9 to 13, this camp introduces participants to a variety of sports while building confidence, teamwork, and new skills.  

Through our Soccer & Soar program, campers took part in a soccer clinic focused on fundamental skills and small sided games. The campers then designed their own crest that reflected their personal values, interests, and identities. By the end of the day, each participant had the opportunity to get active in the field and express themselves through creativity. 

Special Olympics Unified Match @ Houston 

Our Special Olympics Unified Team traveled to the Lone Star State alongside the First Team to take on Houston Dynamo FC's Special Olympics Unified Team. 

Our team delivered an incredible performance, earning a 4–2 road victory! Congratulations to Coaches Young, Sherman, and Pond for leading the team to a well-deserved win. 

The day after the match, the team celebrated with Texas barbecue and connected with Houston Dynamo FC's Special Olympics Unified Team at the Dash House ahead of D.C. United's match. They also took part in the rally tunnel for player walkouts, were recognized at halftime, and wrapped up the day with a special post-match meet and greet with players and coaches. 

Soccer & Soar with Urban Alliance and Lafayette Credit Union

Ahead of our first match back from the World Cup break, we partnered with Urban Alliance and Lafayette Federal Credit Union to host a Soccer & Soar centered around financial literacy for Urban Alliance teens participating in summer internships. 

Through interactive, real-life scenarios, participants built budgeting skills, learned to distinguish between wants and needs, and gained the confidence to make informed financial decisions. 

Military Member of the Match

During our first match back from the World Cup break, we honored Specialist William Coble of the US Space Force as our Military Member of the Match. At just 19 years old, Specialist Coble is the youngest person selected for his unit in 30 years. The Black-and-Red thank you for your service and commitment to serving our country 

Raise A Toast Award Nominations Are Open!
