Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is trying to make it even easier for heavy duty vehicles, including long-haul trucks and buses, to pollute our air and make us sick. Toxic pollution from heavy duty vehicles is known to cause asthma, lung cancer, and heart disease, among other illnesses.

This rollback is especially dangerous for kids who are exposed to toxic diesel pollution on their way to school. It’s a reckless and inhumane move by the EPA, and we need to speak out.

Trump is seeking to roll back limits on health-harming tailpipe pollution from trucks and buses, which will make our air dirtier and our communities sicker. Toxic pollution from heavy duty vehicles is known to cause asthma, lung cancer, and heart disease, among other illnesses.

What’s more, this rollback is especially dangerous for kids who are forced to breathe in toxic pollution from diesel buses on the way to school every day. It’s a reckless and inhumane move by the EPA, and we need to speak out.

Too many communities are already suffering from increased air pollution at the hands of Big Polluters and the fossil-fueled climate crisis. Communities near highways, ports, and warehouses — often low-income communities and communities of color — bear a disproportionate and morally unacceptable burden of this pollution. Strong vehicle standards are one of the most effective tools we have to reduce harmful exposures and advance environmental justice. 

Our communities need more clean air protections, not more dangerous rollbacks. The EPA must do its job to protect the public and hold Big Polluters accountable for making our communities and our children sicker.
