Reawakening ancient bones

In 2020, Felicity Selkirk and Tim Holding – an Australian couple with a shared love of French architecture – bought Château de Purnon, just south of the Loire Valley.

The chateau stood empty, in severe disrepair. Yet they were determined to save it from generations of neglect.

Felicity remembers the moment clearly: "When we first arrived, our architect said that we were reawakening an old lady who had been asleep for a long time, so we needed to reawaken her slowly."

"In terms of choosing architectural details," Felicity explains, "we’re introducing features to a room that have never been there before.

"We need to choose products that fit beautifully into the old bones of the chateau and that age beautifully over time. These are the reasons we’ve chosen Corston."
