Felix Auger-Aliassime is ready to make an impact at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, both on and off the court.
The 25-year-old will compete as the second seed at the ATP Masters 1000 event in the city of his birth, Montreal, where Alexander Zverev headlines the field. Auger-Aliassime, who is eyeing big results across the North American hard-court summer to boost his Nitto ATP Finals qualification hopes, revealed he has ‘juice in the tank’ for Montreal and feels ready to step up at a tournament where he relishes his role as an ambassador for Canadian tennis.
“When I hang up my racquet one day, I want to look back and think, not only that I played well and won as much as possible, but also that I helped to grow the sport in the country and grew the culture of the sport,” the Canadian, whose off-court partnerships in Montreal include supporting a local children’s hospital. “So it’s nice to have a little bit of time at home and be doing all these things, the things I don’t have time to do during other tournaments.”

In ATPTour.com’s new series, Sliding Tour Moment, a host of top players reflect on a career defining experience, one that they look back on as pivotal in their journey through tennis. First up is Alex de Minaur, who discussed his 2024 United Cup match against Alexander Zverev.
Alex de Minaur has won 11 ATP Tour titles, spent most of the past two and a half years inside the Top 10 of the PIF ATP Rankings, and earned 332 tour-level wins since turning pro in 2015. Yet even for a player who has done so much winning, De Minaur acknowledges that there are some triumphs that simply hit harder.
“Tennis is one of those brutal sports that is very, very hard mentally,” De Minaur told ATPTour.com. “You suffer through a lot of tough moments and it's very inconsiderate, right? You put in years and years and years of hard work to achieve certain moments, and when you achieve new ground, you're ecstatic. It's one of the best feelings in the world.” |

"[No. 1 is] definitely a goal of mine… Playing the best tennis possible, I think that should be always the number one goal because then the results will follow. Winning tournaments will follow." |
