Andy – Communities across the country are canceling their contracts with Flock because neighbors organized and demanded it. We built a toolkit to help you do the same: Find out whether your city has a Flock contract, rally your neighbors, and demand answers. Because here's the thing: Flock's Automated license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras aren't like normal traffic cameras. They record and track every car that comes into their view, while an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm catalogs the make, model, color, license plate number, and even bumper stickers. That personal information flows into a nationwide database that any law enforcement agency with a Flock contract – including agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – can search, with little oversight over how the data is used.
