「樂添家」家居保障計劃 半價優惠

With extreme weather in Hong Kong becoming increasingly frequent in recent years, small and medium-sized enterprises are facing growing operational and in turn financial losses.

With the right preparation and insurance protection, you can safeguard your staff and property, and recover faster if a storm causes unexpected losses.
Typhoon Preparation Tips to Protect Your Business Properties

1. Protect roofs, doors and windows
-If your shop or office is located on the street, stack sandbags or install flood barriers to prevent water from seeping in.
-Apply tape in a crisscross ("X") pattern on glass windows to help hold the glass together and reduce the risk of shards scattering if the window breaks.
-Secure your windows by using impact-resistant glass where possible.
-Lock the doors and windows securely, and if there are crossbars, they should be fastened.
-Inspect and maintain your roof regularly. Repair any loose tiles or panels before the storm.

2.Move or secure outdoor items
-Cut off the power supply of the fluorescent light sign.
-Bring in outdoor furniture, signage, trash bins, plants and large decorations.
-Securing outdoor furniture, signboards, awnings, and loose items that could be blown away by strong winds or cause injury and damage.

3.Protect electric equipment and stock
-Move stock, computers, and electrical equipment and documents to higher position or elevate them to prevent water damage.
-Shut down and unplug electronic equipment to prevent short circuits or damage from power surges.
-Back up critical data in advance and store copies securely online or in waterproof containers.

4.Keep drainage clear
-Prepare flood control materials such as sandbags, waterproof sheets, and water pumps to reduce flooding risks, especially if your premises are in low-lying areas.
-Check roof, podium, flat roof, drains, gutters and surrounding areas to ensure all drainage systems and manholes are free from blockage to prevent water build-up or flooding.

5. Safeguard Against Business Interruption
-Make good use of the insurance plans with suitable coverage such as property coverage, business interruption coverage and extra expense coverages etc., to help you resume operations quickly. Those coverages may cover lost profits, fixed costs (e.g. rent, payroll), and additional costs to maintain the business operations such as renting a temporary location or equipment due to extended power outages or restricted access to buildings.
