New strategy for super stable e-skin design by SUSTech researchers

Nature Communications >

This study demonstrates that interlinks can also be applied for the seamless integration of a soft robot and sensors for both pressure and strain sensing during gripping tasks without showing any interfacial failure. The sensor can identify various stages during the gripping process via the decoupled bimodal signals of capacitance and resistance. This strategy can be reasonably extended to many other material systems and other types of sensors for attaining robust interfaces and highly stable signals.. Learn more>

Highly stretchable and highly conducting hydrogel for soft bioelectronics

Advanced Materials  >

The researchers demonstrated the excellent mechanical-electrical stability and desired bio-compatibility, together with the high charge storage capacity of the double network hydrogel. They showed that the hydrogel could integrate with bio-tissues after grafting a bio-adhesive layer. The hydrogel has been applied as an implantable electrode in a rat model, performing well in both recording bio-signals and neural stimulation.Learn more>
