President Trump signed executive orders intended to restrict birthright citizenship, after the Supreme Court blocked his bid to end automatic citizenship for children born in the U.S.

Details: The first of the two orders would restrict birthright citizenship for children born to foreign diplomatic personnel; “alien enemies,” including members of foreign terrorist organizations; and women who enter the U.S. to give birth. The second takes broader aim at that last category, seeking to end “birth tourism.” [Politico]
Related: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the Trump administration was cracking down on the use of U.S. banks by undocumented immigrants, cartels and criminal enterprises. The move is related to an effort to tighten oversight of financial activity linked to unauthorized employment. [CBS News]
In the polls: Voters rank inflation and the cost of living as the most important issues, while more adults disapprove than approve of the Supreme Court, the president and both parties in Congress, according to a new poll. Trump’s approval rating is at 40%, a small rise from June. [USA Today]
