Quite a lot of you enjoyed our on-sale Advent calendars roundup yesterday, so here’s another option (that we didn’t include in the piece): a color-your-own Christmas countdown calendar. Speaking of the Anniversary Sale, I recommend perusing the home deals before the sale ends Sunday night. This $45 throw from UGG (experts in cozy things) looks surprisingly nice and comes in three autumnal shades, though I like dark brown best. Get it for yourself or your college-bound kid. 

The Ordinary’s budget retinal (which is more potent than a retinol and therefore works faster) is now even more budget-friendly. “To combat trademark retinoid irritation, it contains ‘synthetic oat analogues’ — oats are a great ingredient for soothing irritation thanks to anti-inflammatory avenanthramide,” says former writer Rachael Griffiths. In her time testing it, she never had redness, flaking, or itchiness.
