Hi Trail Supporter—
America’s trails are in the spotlight like never before. That’s why we need your help to decide this year’s Hall of Fame trail!
As RTC celebrates 40 years of uplifting America’s trails, and as people turn to these outdoor spaces as ways to explore America for its 250th milestone and other major events, 2026 is a landmark moment for the country’s 42,500+ miles of multiuse trails.
Through our Hall of Fame, we honor the most exceptional of these multiuse trails—rail-trails, greenways, towpaths, rails-with-trails—for providing outstanding experiences and outsized impact to their regions and as models for trails nationwide.
With so many great trails, it’s always challenging to narrow it down to a single Hall of Famer for the year. Will you help us choose which of the stellar 2026 nominees should receive the top spot?
► Vote for the Mount Vernon Trail in Virgina!
► Vote for the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Ohio!
► Vote for the Historic Battlefield Trail in Texas!
Trails nominated for RTC’s Hall of Fame are selected for qualities such as scenic value, high use, trail and trailside amenities, historical significance, accessibility, terrific management and maintenance of facility, community benefits, and connectivity to local destinations as well as to regional active transportation systems.
Learn more about the 2026 nominees and how they are improving communities and lives.
All three nominees are incredible and are helping to inspire other trails across the country—but there can only be one 2026 inductee! Help us decide by voting for your top choice, as many times as you would like, between now and Aug. 16.
Good luck to the nominees, and thank you for showing your support!
Sincerely,
