Pierce From Rebel Rabbit Here. Short one.Hi friend,
If you're unaware, on November 12th, a federal law takes effect that would pull low-dose THC beverages off shelves nationwide, ours included. However, there is something we can do about it.
Two Congressmen, Andy Barr of Kentucky and Angie Craig of Minnesota, introduced a bipartisan bill called the Lawful Hemp Protection Act. It would regulate drinks like ours the same way beer, wine, and spirits are already regulated. Age checks at 21 and up, third-party testing, real labeling, federal taxes. That's what we've been asking for since we started this company in 2021, and we'd sign up for it tomorrow.
Here's the problem. New bills take months to work through Congress to get passed. This one was just introduced, and Congress has fewer than 20 working days left before the deadline hits. The bill is the right answer, but it will not arrive in time on its own.
What can arrive in time is an extension. Congress has to pass a funding bill before the end of September, and the Senate is negotiating the terms of it this week. If an extension of the November 12 deadline goes into that bill, the category gets the runway it needs, and the real legislation gets a fair shot.
Senate offices have told the industry they're barely hearing about this. That's the whole reason I'm writing.
If you enjoy our drinks and want to keep drinking them, take thirty seconds and tell your Senators to include an extension in the funding bill. The form finds your Senators by address and gives you a letter you can send as-is or rewrite in your own words.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
