This Saturday, Todd Blanche’s nomination to be our nation’s next attorney general — the top law enforcement official in the federal government — will be coming up for a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.

Blanche should not have made it this far. But two outgoing Republican senators on a key committee, John Cornyn (Texas) and Thom Tillis (North Carolina) — following some performative displays of integrity — caved in and voted to advance Blanche’s nomination to the full Senate.

Don’t be fooled — as Cornyn and Tillis are pretending to be — by Blanche issuing a brief written statement regarding the preposterous “settlement” in Donald Trump’s bogus lawsuit against his own IRS.

Contrary to some news reports, Blanche’s statement does NOT mean the $1.776 billion slush fund he concocted can never be brought back.

Blanche’s statement does NOT prevent the Trump Regime from finding other ways to funnel our tax dollars to assorted MAGA crooks and cronies.

And Blanche’s statement does NOT rescind the sweeping immunity from tax investigations the “settlement” conferred on Donald Trump, members of his family, and their numerous businesses.

Here are just a few other reasons why Blanche should not be attorney general:
Tell every member of the United States Senate:

Todd Blanche is manifestly unfit to be attorney general. You know it. And the American people deserve better. Do not confirm Todd Blanche, even if it means standing up to Donald Trump for once.

This is a message for the entire Senate, so take action today even if one or both of your senators is a die-hard Trumpist.

Thanks for taking action.
