What does meaningful community-engaged research look like? A years-long effort along the Schuylkill River offers answers. Through art installations, oral histories, and resident partnerships, Penn researchers helped build a model in the Schuylkill River & Urban Waters Research Corps that listens to communities and responds to their needs.

Health economist Amol Navathe has been appointed chair of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission at a pivotal moment, charged with helping to figure out financial sustainability while preserving access and quality for millions of older adults and people with disabilities. “For me, success means continuing to advance [the] mission of delivering high-credibility, trusted analysis that serves Congress well,” Navathe says.

A new study involving researchers from Penn’s BiCycles Lab dated the methane emerging from under the Greenland Ice Sheet, a method that may help better predict glacier melting scenarios amid modern climate change. Climate scientist Jon Hawkings says the research “strongly suggests that the Greenland Ice Sheet responds much more quickly to climate change than we previously assumed.”
