Passaparola August 2026
The Passalacqua password

Cari amici,

Summer at Passalaqua is a dappled delight, shaded by greenery and cooled by constant breezes that blow down from the high mountains across the surface of Lake Como. This is a time to embrace the Italian talent for il dolce far niente with a sunset cruise on a vintage runabout, an iced coffee poolside or a gentle game of bocce in a scenic court bordered by a spreading grapevine pergola. It has been proven that switching off and embracing idleness, if only for a couple of hours, has numerous health benefits. It also encourages creativity and enhances emotional balance. At Passalacqua, we like nothing better than to help our guests relax and unwind, in a historic property that was built for this very purpose.

Un abbraccio,

Your Passalacqua Family

Acquavite
noun – ‘alcoholic spirit, aquavit’

Plant-based distillations are at the heart of many of the iconic spirits in the classic cocktail bar repertoire. But there comes a time when any truly curious barista needs to experiment, as the monks of old did in their cellar stills. This ‘spirit’ of adventure lies behind the Passalacqua’s bar team’s creation of four distillati based on herbs, fruits and leaves from our lakeside gardens. Allow us to introduce Oletum, Citrea, Silvae and Viridis. Our in-house mixologists have used this botanical quartet as the basis a new range of enticing cocktails. Natura artis magistra, as they say: nature is the master of invention.
Quote mark left Passamaneria
noun – ‘passementerie, decorative braiding’
Como is synonymous with quality textiles – in particular silk, which has been worked here since the 15th century. We honor the connection in so many of Passalacqua’s interior design details. But we also celebrate it at our online store Sense of Lake. The latest fruit of our long-standing collaboration with the legendary Mantero, a family company now in its fourth generation, is a series of delightful, eye-catching foulards – one of which is dedicated to the free-range chickens that wander in Passalacqua’s gardens. They are available now to order at Sense of Lake.
