We’re fighting to save habitat protections for endangered species.

Friend of Wildlife,

The Hawaiian monk seal is one of the most endangered seal species on the planet, but their continued existence is proof that wildlife protection legislation and science-based conservation works. The progress we’ve made for monk seals and countless other species could be undone now that the Trump administration has gutted the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to give to the National Wildlife Federation, now is the moment, friend: Endangered wildlife are counting on us to save the ESA.

We’re suing the Trump administration over their illegal and immoral changes to the ESA because we have had ENOUGH of their anti-science agenda. Monk seals can’t file a lawsuit, so we’re doing it for them.

By removing habitat protections, the federal government is abandoning their responsibilities to our environment and rejecting verifiable scientific evidence. We refuse to sit back and do nothing while all of the hard-won progress we’ve made together for wildlife is torn down—and we’re asking for your help and your $30 today to fund our fight.

Hawaiian monk seals were nearly hunted to extinction in the 1800s, and experienced decades of decline in the 1900s due to threats like habitat loss, food limitation, and entanglements.

Since 2013, the population has been slowly rising thanks to decades of public education campaigns, federal and state recovery plans, and legal protections like the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act. This fragile victory isn’t likely to last without those protections.

The progress we’ve made for endangered wildlife like Hawaiian monk seals is in peril, which is why we’re asking you to step up to save the ESA’s ability to protect habitat.

The Trump administration seems determined to fight for anti-science policies without consideration for the American people, our cherished wildlife, and the very future of our planet.

Since the federal government won’t do what’s right for wildlife or follow the law, we have to take a stand and we need you with us. Your generosity is the backbone of everything we do, truly.

Thank you for all that you do for wildlife.
