Ocelots are facing an uphill battle to survive crossing the roads that divide their dwindling thornscrub habitat. Now it is up to us to save this elusive wildcat and other at-risk species before they disappear completely from the United States.
Today, vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death for American ocelots, responsible for an estimated 40% of ocelot deaths, as the loss and fragmentation of their thornscrub habitat forces them to risk their lives to cross roads and highways. Ocelots are already suffering because of habitat loss, and it’s likely to get worse with the administration’s new interpretation that does not treat habitat modification as harm to species.
Will you pitch in today to support our critical work defending the ESA and other programs that will help protect imperiled species like ocelots?
If this action is not reversed, restoring the crucial protections against habitat destruction, we could lose ocelots and other at-risk species forever. Please give now and help us prevent this fate.
