Time for a Break?

If the header sent your heart to the bottom of your stomach, allow me to pick it right back up: there’s no actual break, I was just being clever. The homestand continues this weekend, right before we shift gears to Leagues Cup! We don’t stop until the snow starts flyin’, folks. Even then, we might keep playing for a little while. 

Following their scoreless draw against the top team in the Western Conference, your Loons are staying home, welcoming San Diego FC back to Allianz Field for their second showdown of the season. It’s a matchup that’s produced some truly special moments in its young history, and with both teams looking to improve their position in the table ahead of this edition, it promises to be another exciting affair. 

Before I get to talk to you again, we’ll have a quick turnaround, as FC Juarez of Liga MX will be in town next Tuesday for the Loons’ first Leagues Cup match of 2026. They’ll follow that up with guaranteed matches against Tigres on August 7 and Atlante on August 11, completing the three-game Phase One and awaiting tournament-wide results to learn their fate moving forward.
