Hi Friend,
Many of you wrote asking for the same thing: a real breakdown on under eyes. How to brighten them, smooth them, and make them look awake without caking on layers of concealer that settle into lines by noon.
So here we go, what our Under Eye Brightener actually does:
Brighteners aren’t the same as concealers. Here’s what they’re designed for:
Neutralizes darkness: Color-corrects shadows (blue, purple, gray tones) instead of just covering them up.
Reflects light: Creates the illusion of lifted, awake eyes by bouncing light off the under-eye area.
Smooths texture: Lightweight formula sits on top of skin without settling into fine lines or creases.
Think of it this way: concealer hides. Brightener lifts and illuminates. For tired-looking eyes, brightener does the heavier lifting with way less product.
How to Apply It (The Right Way)
1. Use your ring finger: It applies the least pressure, which matters under your eyes where skin is delicate and prone to creasing.
2. Apply in an upside-down triangle: Start at the inner corner, sweep under your eye, and extend slightly down toward your cheek. This lifts the entire eye area.
3. Pat, don’t rub: Gentle tapping motions blend the product without disturbing your skincare or foundation underneath.
4. Let it set for 30 seconds: Give it time to settle before you add powder or concealer on top. Rushing this step is why it creases later.
5. Build if needed: One light layer is usually enough. If you need more coverage, add a second thin layer instead of a heavy one.
Common Mistakes I See (And How to Fix Them)
❌ Using too much product: A little goes a long way, and overloading causes creasing and a heavy look. Start with a rice-grain amount.
❌ Applying it too close to your lash line: This makes your eyes look smaller, not brighter. Keep it in that triangle shape, starting about a finger-width below your lower lashes.
❌ Rubbing or dragging: The skin under your eyes is the thinnest on your face. Pulling or tugging creates more lines over time. Always pat gently.
❌ Skipping moisturizer: Dry skin makes brightener look patchy and settle into texture. Hydrate first, let it absorb, then apply brightener.
❌ Choosing the wrong shade: Too light looks chalky and obvious. Too dark doesn’t brighten anything. You want one shade lighter than your natural skin tone.
