Right now, hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the globe are headed to America’s national parks and monuments to experience the joys of the outdoors.
But as extreme weather events become more frequent, federal protections are stripped, and corporate interests attempt to target public lands for profit, America’s national parks are facing more challenges than ever. Our work to expand and protect national parks and public lands across the country has never been more important.
Since 1972, we’ve protected millions of acres of public lands and delivered important wins for America’s national parks:
🌵 At Saguaro National Park in Arizona, we protected over 2,300 acres of vulnerable land and acquired hundreds of acres within park boundaries—expanding and safeguarding undisturbed patches of desert that are vital for both recreation and wildlife corridors.
🐊 At Everglades National Park in Florida, we added 48,000 acres of land threatened by development and draining wetlands—preserving essential wildlife habitat and ensuring that people have access to this treasured landscape for generations to come.
🌳 And at Ocmulgee Mounds in Georgia, we’re working to establish America’s *newest* national park, which would permanently preserve land that honors cultural heritage and provides outstanding recreational opportunities along the Ocmulgee River corridor.
Connecting everyone to the outdoors. We create parks and protect public land where they’re needed most so that everyone will have access to the benefits and joys of the outdoors for generations to come.
