It’s been one year since the most anti-environmental bill in U.S. history – President Trump’s One Big UGLY Bill – was signed into law. And it’s a disaster for our ocean, our coasts, and coastal communities.
Among its several destructive bylaws is language calling for increased offshore oil and gas leasing in the Gulf of Mexico – pushing endangered marine life like sea turtles, whales, manatees, and dolphins closer to EXTINCTION by destroying their fragile marine habitats and posing the risk of CATASTROPHIC OIL SPILLS. Meanwhile, local communities are subjected to TOXIC POLLUTION as harmful emissions stoke the climate crisis and drive DEVASTATING NATURAL DISASTERS.
But we still have a chance to STOP the fossil fuel industry from completely decimating the Gulf of Mexico, Andy. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is currently accepting public comments regarding an upcoming proposal that could make it easier to drill EVEN MORE of our precious oceans– but if we’re going to block this, we urgently need to speak up before the DEADLINE ON AUGUST 11th.
