URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Tell Trump’s FDA to STOP allowing the use of routine antibiotics on factory farms and help fight antibiotic resistance! >> Take immediate action!
Innocent animals on factory farms are crammed into tiny unsanitary spaces for most of their lives. But rather than raise livestock in more humane, less disease-prone conditions, factory farms give antibiotics to these animals to promote growth and prevent disease – even if they are not sick.
But overusing antibiotics creates strains of bacteria that are resistant to these medicines – meaning when you have a bacterial infection, the antibiotics may no longer work. According to some estimations, in just one year (2019) 1.2 million people globally died because the infecting bacteria was resistant to available antibiotics.
Our government’s failure to prohibit the use of routine antibiotics on factory farms is fueling this crisis – and unnecessarily. Many farmers in the U.S. and abroad already raise animals with no or dramatically lower antibiotic use, demonstrating that healthier management practices are achievable.
But Trump’s FDA continues to allow this routine use of antibiotics on animals. You can help change that. Please, Andy, tell the FDA to end the unnecessary overuse of antibiotics on factory farms and help protect life-saving medicines!
