Every August, I find myself longing for one last escape before the arrival of fall. While last year was filled with travel, this season has been different. Rather than searching for adventure somewhere far away, I’ve found myself creating it within my own home.
Over the past few months, I’ve been feverishly painting the spaces and objects that surround me—from hand-painted candlesticks, mirrors, and linen lampshades to decorative ceramic shells adorned with dreamy botanicals to hold treasured jewelry. I’ve also been capturing quiet moments on paper: reading tucked into a cozy nook, an afternoon swim, and the simple rituals that make everyday life feel extraordinary.
Escapism is a celebration of finding beauty exactly where you are. It’s a reminder that home can be its own destination, and that surrounding yourself with thoughtfully made, beautiful objects can transform the ordinary into something magical. Sometimes the greatest adventure isn’t found on a plane or along a distant coastline—it’s discovered in the spaces we create for ourselves, one meaningful detail at a time.
